GM Sedans Aren’t Going Anywhere

2019 Chevy Cruze Sedan

In recent months, we have learned that several major automakers, including domestic automakers like Ford and Fiat Chrysler, are planning to abandon the passenger car segment entirely, in favor of SUVs and trucks. General Motors, however, has no plan to leave this segment. While the segment is decreasing in popularity, there is still a wide range of buyers who are interested in GM sedans.

It’s a pretty big opportunity for us,’ remarked Steve Majoros, Chevrolet’s marketing director. “If other competitors are leaving, we’re very happy to pick up that business, and we’ll certainly do that.

In fact, not only will GM continue its sedan lineup, it will also be working to enhance it. Chevrolet will reportedly be updating its Cruze, Spark, and Malibu offerings over the next few years. Sure, GM brands will also focus on SUVs and trucks, but that focus won’t take away from what the brand can do for sedan drivers.

Chevy Traverse and Malibu Earn Top Family Vehicle Recognition

Chevy Traverse and Malibu Earn Top Family Vehicle Recognition

Earlier this summer, both the Chevy Traverse and Chevy Malibu earned “top family vehicle” recognition from Parents magazine and Edmunds.com when the two partnered to announce the “10 Best Family Cars of 2018.” Judges from Parents magazine and Edmunds reviewed over 300 vehicles and whittled them down to just 10, meaning Chevy owns 20% of the total prize. Specifically, judges were looking at qualities like mileage, comfort, performance, and affordability.

Specifically, the 2018 Chevy Traverse is great for larger families or drivers with an active lifestyle here in the Rockies. That’s because it offers up to 98.2 cubic feet of cargo space and can seat up to eight occupants. Legroom for second- and third-row passengers is more spacious than ever before in the Traverse, and fuel economy has also been improved to 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

The Chevy Malibu, though not as popular up here in the mountains, is great for single drivers or drivers with small families. It took home the win in the sedan category due to its roomy rear seats, the awesome Bose® sound system upgrade, and available Teen Driver technology, as well as a long list of other safety features that are more advanced than those of the competition.
