While people may stereotypically think New England is the place to go to see fall color, we have some spectacular fall foliage in Colorado, too. In fact, we think with the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, our autumn might be the most beautiful. Here are some of the best places to experience fall in Colorado.
Trail Ridge Road
The Trail Ridge Road is the highest paved road in North America. It starts in the west at Grand Lake and takes you to Estes Park in the east. You can even take advantage of guided tours and hikes from the Rocky Mountain Conservatory.
San Juan Skyway
This 236-miles loop takes you through the San Juan Mountain in southwest Colorado. 70 miles of this stretch is known as the Million Dollar Highway thanks to its breathtaking views. For a more thrilling view of the fall colors, try the Soaring Tree Top Adventures, which features 27 zip lines.
Grand Mesa Scenic Byway
The Grand Mesa, the world’s largest flat top mountain, is located in western Colorado. The Grand Mesa Scenic and Historic Byway takes you past brightly Colorado scrub oaks and golden aspens. Stop for a glass of wine while driving through Colorado wine country.
